The mastermind behind the operation, Anand Kumar, an assistant manager at Prathama UP Gramin Bank, along with nine accomplices—including bank staff and students from Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh—were arrested.
The breakthrough occurred during the IBPS Clerk Examination 2025 when exam center invigilators in Bijnor grew suspicious of a candidate who turned out to be a proxy. This led to the unraveling of the network, which had been using face-mixing software to manipulate biometric and visual checks. Police seized numerous digital devices and documents, along with ₹1.53 lakh in cash. Two suspects remain at large, believed to have coordinated logistics and document forgery from Bihar.
